The Miraculous Sefer Torah

 

On the year of 1742 a plague had ravaged Mezibuz, the home town of the Baal Shem Tov, infecting countless people.

 

The community elders came to ask for help from the holy Baal Shem Tov . He expressed his inability to help. "Only the holy letters of the holy Torah can help you.  So", he added, "I advise you to write a Sefer Torah (the holy Torah scroll) with the participation of the entire community.

 

The Jewish residents immediately resolved to begin writing a Sefer Torah. The entire community participated in this holy project.

 

Indeed, the plague abated that very day; not another person fell ill.

 

Awed by the clear miracle, the community dubbed the scroll "The Miracle Sefer Torah"
